You sit in a quiet place for 10 to 40 minutes and concentrate on your breathing, sound, song or a mantra. If you use a mantra or chant or not depends entirely on you and what you feel comfortable.

What is a mantra? The mantra comes from the Sanskrit root “man” – which means “thinking” (or, Manas “mind”) and the suffix “tra” – meaning “of the tool.” Literally, a “mantra”, a tool thought.

When you repeat a sound, such as OM (rhymes with home) or Ara Kara (KAH AH-Ruh-Ruh), there is vibration, feel the sound when you say aloud. Mantras are effective if you say out loud (singing soft verbal) or if you repeat mentally, silently in your mind. It’s the easy part.

If you’ve tried meditation, you know what often happens. Turn the phone. Turn off the lights. Perhaps light a scented candle or incense if you find a scent to be a relief. For the first few minutes, so good. Then the mind begins to chatter. And your foot falls asleep. And I chop the arm. So now you’re squirming and wondering how long it was. Ooops. You start to sing again. Soothe your body is easy. Calming the mind is not so easy. This is the hardest part of trying to learn meditation.

There are many learning benefits of meditation are worth persisting. These tips will help you learn to meditate successfully;
